Who are you?
Hello there. I’m Kan, long-time Axiom and current member of the core Flow team. Originally a Civil Engineer, I found the profession lacking in terms of creativity and new discoveries, so I entered the world of software development. I started out at the University of Waterloo, where I finished my Bachelors in Civil Engineering, and transitioned to UBC, where I did the Bachelors of Computer Science program.
After graduating from UBC, I did a small stint as an indie mobile game developer, before hearing about Axiom Zen, and becoming hooked on their philosophies, and their mantra of exploration. I started out with Axiom Zen as a backend engineer, after many projects, I am now the Engineering Manager for the Flow Team.
What lured you into the world of blockchain?
The world of blockchain provides a brand new layer for developers to play with, allowing developers to explore in a way that was previously not possible, and provide a whole new type of value to consumers. Having left a previous profession due to lack of excitement, I find myself somewhat of a thrill seeker in this one. Exploring the capabilities of cutting edge technologies, and pushing the limits of what’s possible has become a core part of what I seek at work.
How did you get hooked on Flow?
Flow is an ambitious project, and pushes the boundaries in many ways, including but not limited to its impact as a technology. This is extremely attractive as a project, as it aligns well with my own ambitions of being part of developing the most cutting edge and current technologies.
What should I read next?
I’m usually a big fan of self help books such as `The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F***` or books that help give more understanding of the world such as `Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind`
What’s the best condiment?
Hot sauce.
- Comes in many different levels, no two hot sauces are the same, and allows a wide variety of flavours even at the same spice level.
- Different quantities have different uses, good food can be enhanced with a tiny bit of hot sauce, and bad food can be overpowered by a lot of hot sauce.
